We had a fun adventurous day! The storm that rolled in last night made today a little cloudy with a little rain on and off. The storm meant very high and powerful surf which was fun to see. We walked the Kapalua coastal trail enjoying the fabulous views. The trail ended at D.T. Fleming beach where we spent some time playing in the water. The waves at the beach were so powerful that there was a lifeguard on duty and you could only go out in the water if you were experience swimmer and had fins. We just played near the beach on our boogie board. We decided to move on since it was super powerful.
We continued driving north stopping to watch surfers. We hiked down to the nakalele blow hole which is so powerful you can get sucked back into it. It was fun to see however. Kristoni had remembered this hike with her Dad years before and we found the heart shape in the rock which was super fun. We stopped for local treats after a few miles on a one lane road which was a little scary at times. The treats were yummy and we used this as our turning around point. The beauty of this island is amazing.
Mom and Scott remembered a trail through trees with swinging vines so we wanted to find it on our drive back. We parked and walked along a trail but we think the vines were cut down. We got to an entrance into the water with good snorkeling but the water was pretty rough and no beach area. We probably won't go back. I leaned over and my sunglasses fell off but luckily they did get far.
We went back to Lahaina after dinner to walk around and get another round of snow cones.
